staircase spindles. An abundance of intricate ceiling and wall molding has been applied and new recessed lighting added to the ceiling. A laser-cut fleur-de-lis medallion makes a lovely definition in the heart of the white marble floor.
Above the floor medallion, rests a sturdy center foyer table of hand-carved gilt-wood and marble inset top. White porcelain ginger jars with bronze bases and flame finials rest in the wall niches.
Off the foyer is a striking powder room where a burgundy and green sink skirt decorates a period marble and wood sink with crystal faucets. Moire plaid paper covers the ceiling and a golden fleur-de-lis border draws attention to the tile.
“Keith (Mazzei of diSalvo Interiors) was also very respectful of our budget,” says the wife. “We had previously hired another out-of-state interior design firm. They had worked for us elsewhere, but they didn’t have the capacity to handle the scope of this 14,000 square foot space. We invested a lot of time and money only to realize that it had to be completely redone.”
“I’m not from around here,” she continues, “and I discovered diSalvo in House magazine. Annemarie (diSalvo) really impressed us. She introduced us to Keith from her firm, who has been wonderful. We love our home now.”
“We have the talent to do any project,” says diSalvo, “but personalities are also important. When I met the clients, I knew instantly that Keith would work very well with them.”
That collaboration is also seen in the home’s lower level where Mazzei designed a wall-length wine cellar in the billiard room.
“The husband makes his own wine,” says Mazzei, “and is also an avid collector. For the wine cellar, we used a
