Architectural details, materials and shapes abound in this unique home.
The heavily treed North Shore attracts homeowners seeking privacy and space. Fortunately, Lee Najman’s clients got both. Indeed, the corner property is park-like with the long driveway snaking along the adjacent property. The house’s site on the property belies its two-plus acres with the illusion of many more. The placement of the structure was no accident since Najman’s assignment was comprehensive; design a contemporary house, design the landscape and the interior. Given free reign over a project can allow the creative spirit to soar and there’s evidence of that aspect of design in this project. The results are visually exciting imposed by the lengthy driveway approach past the diverse fauna and flora creating anticipation for what will appear at the top of the gently sloping driveway.

At first glance, the bespoke 6500 square-foot mega-mansion design speaks for itself. The impressive one of a kind architecture reflects the mastery of design details found in Najman’s work and to his credit, an element of his reputation. On closer examination, the house follows a zigzag foot print. It also features five different roof styles, adding visual impact. Hip and modified hip, shed and flat roofs complement tall glass windows and doors all handsomely trimmed with mahogany. There are stucco walls, tiled walls, there’s even noteworthy interior elements viewed through the windows that add eye-catching appeal. In particular, a five-foot fabric ceiling lamp in the entrance hallway appears like a flying saucer through the tall entrance hall window. Also, the broad dual-level steel and mahogany staircase can be seen through floor-to-ceiling windows. With so many attractive exterior elements to consider, the gardens, patios, pool, lingering outdoors is especially pleasurable.
