Viewing the work of Lee Najman frequently begs the question, “architectural, interior designer, custom furniture designer, consultant, builder…actually all of the above and more. His customed designed furnishing, accessories and wall treatments are all the result of his design work some of which readers of House magazine are familiar. While Najman's work consistently displayed architectural detail, his more recent projects included designing and building residences along with landscaping and interior design. A recently completed six bedrooms, five bathroom plus master suite residence, sited on a bulkheaded south shore bay front, calls into play all aspects of his creative design cache. Ornamental shrubbery accessorizes a brown pavers auto court leading to the two-story ultra modern house with two-toned taupe stucco façade highlighted by a green accent color. Decorative stone columns frame the double mahogany and cherry front door. The stone work is repeated on a corner column as well as the entrance steps. The rear of the property is equally impressive with stunning water views from multi-level decks, a swimming pool, cabana and barbeque patio.
According to Najman the house was built for a large family where entertaining on a noteworthy level was traditional therefore this aspect of their lifestyle should be accommodated. Certainly, the spacious waterfront site was capable of accommodating these requests and as the design results show, outstanding imaginative design applications were implemented. Doors were obsolete in the overall first floor plan where artistic wall partitions of the floor space created a living room, dining room, kitchen, and family room, further defined by an impressive 14-foot wide by 55-foot long entrance gallery that runs the length of the house. From both a visual as well as a functional perspective this is a unique model.
