Huntington Kitchen and Bath

With 30 years of construction and design experience, Huntington Kitchen & Bath not only tackles numerous remodeling challenges but is also mindful that each project is as unique as the homes and families that live in them.

This beautiful kitchen in Huntington Bay was a complex renovation project and the result of a wonderful collaboration between Donna Paternoster of Designs by Donna, Neal Hoffman RA of Hoffman Grayson Architects, Frank Diliberto CKD, CBD and Candace Acker CKD of Huntington Kitchen and Bath. The project was a complete remodel and update of a 1970s wood paneled modern home. The new kitchen is located within a great room, sharing a commanding view overlooking Huntington Bay. The open design allows for a fluid lifestyle to move easily between the living room, kitchen, eating area and a large deck.

An exploration of the conceptual foot print of the kitchen space and some detailing had begun, but they needed someone who could complete their vision. Coordinating through showroom appointments, email and drawings, the kitchen quickly began to take shape. The homeowners selected Rutt Hand Crafted Cabinetry for its myriad of finishing possibilities and truly custom options and detailing. The furniture quality cabinetry is finished in a linen paint with glaze, applied to mahogany then sanded through to show the wood grain. It is a wonderful finish applied to a contemporary door style that results in a clean transitional look that has the warmth generated by the visible grain texture, yet does not feel rustic.

The cooktop wall cabinetry soars to a height of over 9 feet, gracefully stepping up to meet the structural ridge support of the cantilevered ceiling. An opposing island was placed to anchor the bar area tall columns, one of which is structural, the other hides the A/C return and outlets. This places a sink facing the view of the harbor and provides seating for four at the end. The remaining wall supports not only the refrigerator and tall oven cabinets, but also provides an area for the main clean up sink with dish storage above.

Working closely together, this design team was able to meet all the clients’ requirements resulting in a wonderful architecturally-styled, timeless kitchen that integrates well with the décor of the entire home.
