We’ve often heard that the kitchen is the heart of the home and certainly in this issue of House magazine it seems to be the case. There are more styles and designs of kitchens in this issue than the reader can find anywhere. Located throughout Long Island the designers, for the most part, are members of the local chapter of the National Kitchen & Bath Association and also Certified Kitchen Designers.
The cover of this issue shows the work of Classic Kitchen & Bath which has showrooms in Roslyn and Southampton. More of this fabulous kitchen appears on Pages 56 & 57. It is our great pleasure to show the work of Classic and all the other kitchen designers who make this issue what it is.
Even though kitchens dominate the issue, there are other features to point out. For example, the travel stories by veteran travel writers, Margaret Johnson and Christina Morris and her photographer husband, Cyril, take the reader on a yachting trip to the Virgin Islands, as Margaret explores Switzerland’s Lake Geneva. Joe Volz, on the other hand, a distinguished travel writer among his many other journalistic achievements, brings the reader to the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. Who else but Volz would make it interesting?
As for social events this fall, there seemed to be no end to them. Our photographers, including sons, Denis Jr. and Andrew, and Cyril Morris are hopping all over Nassau and Suffolk. It’s a pleasure to see all of these happy faces.
The Archi Awards are, of course, a main event every year and 2005 was no exception. House magazine has devoted 12 pages to this important feature sponsored by the Long Island chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
Looking ahead to 2006 we see Long Island continuing its steady growth. However, we think the housing market will stabilize because frankly our young people need a place to live.
So, keep those cards and letters coming and have a great and Happy New Year.
