As we enter the 26th year of this magazine, I’m pleased to report the future looks bright. The magazine gets around like never before thanks to a lot of hard work in the office. By adding a television program to the staff’s workload we’ve able to broaden the reach of House. The program, House Television, is taken from the pages of the magazine, rewritten and re-edited for video and then produced by the staff. We are now producing the show on WNBC-DT 4.4 Channel 110. The time slots are published further along in the magazine. If I seem excited about the television you’ll have to forgive me, but I’ve been in the publishing business for almost half a century and I can only compare it to having a Front Page scoop and that’s quite a kick.
In reality, however, this show must go on. The kitchen and bath issue is one of the best in this country. We have dozens of top-ranked kitchen designers showing their work from all parts of Long Island and the work varies from contemporary to traditional. We are very pleased to show both types of design and we hope the reader is rewarded.
How far should one go in travel features is a good question. In this issue, we publish two features on warm climates in the southeast by Margaret Johnson and Nancie Balun-Boughton and another on a trip to Newport by Christina Morris. I happen to like all three since this is the time of the year to start thinking about “getting away.”
A final note. My old buddy, Joe Volz, writes about his alma mater and the wonderful season Rutgers football players enjoyed. We only hope it can continue.
