This issue of the magazine is indeed special.
The magazine is featuring a Designer Show House in Nissequogue which really has a history. The show house was built in the 19th century and its story is well-documented by Natalie Weinstein as part of her highly regarded series of features on places and things from other eras.
While Natalie’s contribution gives us a fascinating look at the house, the designers who worked on the project have turned the house around. Owned by Syd and Deborah Dufton, the house was turned into a show house with th l pof a score of interior designers plus landscape designers. The incredible transformation was opened to the public on May 31 following a gala the night before. It will run until June 29.
House magazine is pleased to have been invited to be a media partner in event. This issue is devoting considerable coverage to interior designers as well as landscape designers.
Other features in this issue include an unusal piece on protecting “title” to art. It was written by a former Newsday reporter, Spencer Rumsey and it tells how Liberty Title is getting involved in securing appropriate ownership records of artwork.
In recognition of hard working journalists in all media in the metro region we again publish the Fair Media Council Folio Awards.
Also, nothing gives me greater pleasure than publishing antique dealers as seen in A Tour of Antiques Shops of the East End, another Sheahan Publication.
There’s a lot more going on in this issue so sit back and enjoy.
