To tell the truth, publishing has been for me an exciting and pleasurable time. At times, I may have been frustrated, even irritated, but rarely was my heart not in it. After my wife and sons, the closest thing to my heart was the printed word. I have written thousands upon thousands of stories long and short. Some have given me wonderful satisfaction, another kind of accomplishment. It’s been a wonderful thing and now a new excitement is happening. The family is producing television programs in conjunction with WNBC-TV. It is mind-boggling. The programs are being viewed on Channel 110, WNBC-DT 4.4, the Time Warner Channel 732, the Comcast Channel 249 and Cablevision Connecticut 119. My friends at WNBC say the program, called House Television, will be seen by almost four million viewers.
How did it all happen? I simply sent to WNBC-TV a DVD of one of the shows we had done on Channel 78. The next thing I knew we were looking at a contract and the rest is history. House Television started on October 9 and it runs six times a week.
It is not only a challenge to produce the show but it has become one of the happiest of times for all of us. Consider this: 25 years ago I wanted to do this but there was no outlet. So three years ago we started a pilot program with Channel 78 on the East End. It worked but it was just for the summer months. The owners of Channel 78, Greg and Ernie Schimizzi, were wonderful to work with. I will always be in their debt.
Of course, the bread and butter of this media company is still print. And when we publish a magazine of 232 pages like this one you know there are readers and advertisers out there who like this magazine.
So please, get on with reading the magazine, enjoy it and watch for Channel 110 and let me know what you think.
