A Transformation by Designer Keith Mazzei

In the living room the light fixture features a blend of wood and metal carrying out the natural wood theme. The swivel chairs with rounded back are a clever combination of fabric and leather. A custom-designed floor uses both mahogany and oak topped with a hand-tufted wool and silk rug in an abstract pattern. The mahogany walls here were first painted white then hand-rubbed to affect a distressed look. The original 8 foot ceiling was opened up, a roofline added and transoms installed to make this once dark room bright and airy. The oversized custom-built window seat is covered with a linen/cotton fabric with orange welt trim and patterned custom throw pillows. Custom window treatments sport beaded trim.

The Italian cabinetry of textured striated driftwood used four versions of the same wood. Upper cabinet doors to the left of the fridge are beige glass. The island is pecan colored wood. Refrigerator doors are gray wood and the dining area displays a whitewashed wood. Kitchen flooring is porcelain tile designed in planks to resemble real wood.

The bar stools and dining chairs are Robert Allen contractor grade fabric used for its durability. The counters are quartz and lights above the Live Edge table are wood and metal spheres to extend the warm look. The white buffet is a coffee/cappuccino/wine bar with a concealed wine refrigerator.

A handsome fireplace is the focal point of this inviting den.
