With Keith Mazzei, it's all about the view and beautiful interiors
When New York couple, Sharon and Gary, decided to purchase a vacation home in sunny Florida, their top priority was a fantastic view of the ocean. The sweeping vistas from this condominium were spectacular, but the inside was tired.
Interior designer Keith Mazzei of Keith Mazzei Interiors in Syosset decorated Sharon and Gary’s home on Long Island in New York three years ago. “There was no question that Keith was the perfect person to transform the interior of our new Florida home,” says Sharon. He understood their vision of bringing a New York design sensibility to their new home.
Mazzei, who has had a successful business in New York for over 20 years and runs a thriving business in South Florida, has established partnerships with vendors in the Miami design district. “It’s a natural fit,” says Mazzei. “Clients love the New York connection. They can meet with me in New York, and they are often thrilled that I can expedite the design process and do the installations without the client needing to
Mazzei wanted to capture the views and harness the natural light. Blues and grays with clean lines helped achieve the Miami chic design aesthetic. The marble floors in a beach sand color, paired with the Swarovski crystal chandelier provided just enough sparkle to complement the sunlight. The custom designed blue lapis dining table was a perfect match to soak up the rays of sunshine, radiating its beauty.
In the kitchen, Mazzei installed custom wood cabinets with a striated woodgrain – a bold move considering white cabinets are always the most popular choice. “We needed to warm up the kitchen because the rest of the home has a very cool palate,” explained Mazzei. “The color of the cabinets and the woodgrain on them worked perfectly and added a welcomed layer of texture and warmth.”
The final touch was hanging the client’s collection of Peter Lik photographs.
Having offices in both New York and Florida made the process for Mazzei and the homeowners seamless resulting in the chic and elegant look they were both going for.
