Bright White Warm Wood
Showcase Kitchens creates a palette that pleases

“Our family lives to be in our new kitchen,” says this Sands Point homeowner. “And everyone who comes over wants to be there, too.”
To craft this welcoming space in the serene transitional style the homeowner wanted, John Starck, Jr., a designer at Showcase Kitchens, in Manhasset, created a pristine white palette, elegantly offset by pewter and rich wood accents.
“The homeowner did not want a run-of-the-mill kitchen, but something uniquely suited to their family,”
says Starck. “We designed three different kitchen stations for them – a separate peninsula for homework, a breakfast eating bar at the kitchen island and a dining area for the family to enjoy their main meals when not entertaining. We also added pocket doors in the wall between the kitchen and family room, opening up a seamless flow when they do entertain. To accomplish all this, we expanded the previous kitchen space into an underused hallway.”
Additional luxury amenities include a custom designed stainless steel and pewter range hood above an eight-burner stove, custom dark walnut cabinetry, a bar area with wine cooler and Calacatta marble countertops. “We contrasted the marble with durable French pewter countertops on either side of the stove which coordinate nicely with the range hood,” says Starck.
“John even added a wenge wood chopping block at the end of the island at a height ideal for my eight year old daughter who loves to cook with me,” says the homeowner. “He also helped organize me by adding a window seat with lots of underneath storage where I keep all my pots and pans, mixing bowls and my children's art projects. It is everything I wanted.”
