Drinking in the Waterfront View

West Islip home showcases beautiful Lakeville kitchen

Moving a young family is no easy task, and building a new home certainly raises the stakes.

The homeowners of this stunning waterfront West Islip home can absolutely attest to the importance of the interplay among these ever present factors: good weather, material lead-times, labor availability and budget. Eventually, it all came together and this dream home became a reality.

Early on, their contractor sent them to Lakeville Kitchen & Bath, with blueprints in hand. They arrived at Lakeville’s Lindenhurst showroom, which features full size kitchens meant to inspire. The homeowners met designer Jonathan Desimini, who had been recommended by their friends as well as their contractor.

The kitchen design itself came together quickly. Honoring the spacious open feel of the house, the open-air kitchen is the hub of the home and seamlessly flows into the eat-in kitchen area and adjacent living room. The kitchen provides open walkways so work can remain in progress, even while guests or family gather.

From the onset, the kitchen would feature a painted white finish. However, to give the kitchen a more striking visual appearance, it was decided to use an accent color, which influenced the homeowners’ selection of cabinetry manufacturer. Falling in love with the Appaloosa finish from the Medallion Cabinetry Platinum Series on the Wellington beaded Inset door style on day one, the selection of the island, hood and wine bar was easily made.

The perimeter of the kitchen needed to blend the aged heirloom appearance of the accent pieces, while still giving the bright clean feeling of a white kitchen. Toward this end, Crystal Cabinetry’s Designer White paint with a Pewter highlight on the Woodbury door style was selected. Crystal’s highlight process gave a delicate accent without the heavy appearance of glazing found in most other manufacturers. Using Encore, Crystal’s frameless cabinet construction option, the homeowners were able to maximize their storage in this area with the full access storage that the cabinets provide.

The homeowners, with designer Jonathan Desimini’s helpful guidance, selected Medallion Cabinetry and Crystal Cabinetry to provide a palate that works together harmoniously to create a kitchen that they’ll love for years to come.
