Industrial Chic

My inspiration for this kitchen came from the Artesso® Kitchen Collection by Brizo®, and the faucet specifically – inspired by early 20th century metal works. The design is industrial, yet refined, and really a statement piece.

I channeled this influence into paying homage to the forged metal architecture and translated that into everyday living. An old warehouse was the perfect setting to bring my vision to life, but the challenge with this modern aesthetic is that it can become almost sterile with an abundance of steel. I upheld the integrity of the space with the exposed brick and steel spiral staircase, but added a twist by incorporating natural elements to break up the monotony of precise lines and angles.

The walnut slab countertop with its live edge, which waterfalls over the cabinets, is unexpected and works beautifully with the Artesso bar faucet in Brilliance® Polished Nickel, transforming the island into the focal point of the room.

I love herringbone flooring for the added dimension and coupled with the walnut countertops, creates organic, visual texture. The AGA Legacy 36 inch Dual Fuel range and Marvel Professional 36 inch French door counter depth refrigerator in black steel with enamel finish blend perfectly with the sophisticated contemporary design.

Creating movement in the space was key – the details draw the eye around the room and complement each other. This project started with a faucet inspired by factories and iron-workings, and grew into a stunning, industrial
chic space.
